Archive Catalogue

This Service is now suspended

North West Sound Archive's on line catalogue can now be searched. If you want to listen to any of the recordings you can make an appointment to visit North West Sound Archive or request that copies be sent to you. A small charge will be levied for copies but we will let you know the cost before the recordings are dispatched.  (Sorry but at this moment in time we can't accept payment by credit or debit card).

Please note that the majority of recordings need to be copied in real time which may impact on the cost and delivery time.

You can search the archive's catalogues, which are hosted by Lancashire Archives, online by clicking here: LANCAT Archive Website

Once you are in the catalogues click on `Advanced Search' then `Repository' and select `North West Sound Archive'.  Type your search term or phrase (eg evacuees or Preston) into the `Any Text' field and then click search.  This will produce a list of all recordings containing your term or phrase.  If you wish to see the full entry for any of the list simply click on that entry.

For each recording you want copied or wish to come and listen to we will need to know the reference number (ie. 1982.0123, 9125 or 54B) and title shown on the top of the list. Enter these in the red bar at the top of the page and then click add item. You can then continue browsing or click on view basket. When you have completed your selection click place order and complete your personal details as required and then click submit. If needed there is a help button at the top of the search screen.

Your order will then be forwarded to the Sound Archive and we will be in touch as soon as possible.
